Mendham’s Natural Tapestry
Headwaters. Wildlife. Stewardship.
A short film celebrating the landscapes, water resources, and natural systems that define Mendham — and why protecting them matters.

Whippany River
A Living Landscape Worth Protecting
Mendham’s Natural Tapestry highlights the streams, forests, wetlands, and wildlife that shape our community and connect directly to the headwaters of the Raritan River.
These natural systems do more than define our landscape—they support clean drinking water, sustain wildlife habitats, and protect the long-term health of our region.
This film is intended to inform, inspire, and encourage thoughtful stewardship of the resources that make Mendham unique.
Protect What Makes Mendham Special

Leddell Pond
Protecting Headwaters
The land and waterways in Mendham feed tributaries to McVickers Brook and the North Branch of the Raritan River as well as the Passaic and Whippany Rivers—critical sources of drinking water for communities across New Jersey and approximately 6 million people.
Preserving Habitat
Forests, wetlands, and stream corridors provide essential habitat and wildlife corridors that support biodiversity.
Safeguarding Clean Water
Groundwater recharge areas and stream buffers help maintain water quality and reduce flooding and runoff.
Encouraging Stewardship
Thoughtful planning and community engagement are essential to preserving these natural systems for future generations.
“What happens in the headwaters affects everyone downstream.”
